Professional Ethics (Roles and Boundaries): 2 CE Hours
Course Details
Have you ever booked more massages in a day than you should have or wondered what to do when a client sends you a friend request on Facebook? Do you dismiss the importance of keeping conversation to a minimum during a massage or taking the necessary steps to protect client privacy? Are you struggling to build a thriving practice or feeling “burned-out” as a massage therapist?
These are all boundary issues.
Poor boundaries can affect your business in a number of ways. Yet many people never take the time to make the changes needed and continue to struggle in their professional and personal lives. They continue to talk, say “yes” to every client that asks for an appointment on an already booked day, or work outside the massage therapy scope of practice.
This course will help you examine areas where poor boundaries are limiting your potential. If you are a happy and successful massage therapist, this class will help you reaffirm your commitment to ethics and look into some other modern boundary issues, such as social media boundaries.
Learning Objectives
After completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- Define “Ethics” and “Boundaries”
- List five types of boundaries
- Differentiate “Transference” and “Countertransference”
