Here is the latest rule change for Florida Massage Therapists:
64B7-28.008 Display of Licenses.
(1) Each licensed practitioner shall conspicuously display a current license issued by the Department, or photo copy thereof, at each location at which he or she practices.
(a) Effective on August 1, 2012, for each initial license or duplicate license issued the licensee must attach to the displayed license a 2 inch by 2 inch photograph of the individual whose name appears on the certificate which was taken within the previous two years.
(b) Effective on September 1, 2013, the licensee must attach to the displayed license a 2 by 2 inch photograph of the individual whose name appears on the certificate which was taken within the previous two years.
(2) Each apprentice shall conspicuously display his or her apprentice certificate issued by the Board office, in the establishment for which it has been issued. Effective on August 1, 2012, the licensee must attach to the displayed license a 2 inch by 2 inch photograph of the individual whose name appears on the certificate which was taken within the previous two years.
(3) The owner of each massage establishment shall conspicuously display a current establishment license issued by the Department on the premises.
Even though you should learn about this in your biennial renewal class, or during the endorsement process, I though you might like an early warning about getting a passport-style photo taken (like Walgreens) and adding this to your display license so you can be ready for your next establishment inspection.
hello , I recently took my license out of inactive state was wondering if the 2×2 photo on the license had to be taken at a Walgreens or other establishment or can it just be take via computer and attached. also do you need one on the larger license and what if you are mobile massage does it have to be displayed or just carried and can you laminate the card?

Excellent question! I do not see any mention of what to do for a mobile therapist. It just says “each licensed practitioner”.

There is no mention of how it needs to be taken, only that it needs to be less than two years old.

Does the lisence need to be displayed in the current room they are practicing in, or just the building?

However – let’s define “conspicuously”. It means “easily seen or noticed; readily visible or observable”. I would make sure I put it somewhere where it is easily seen by someone entering the establishment.
I work for a large health care system. I have been told by my leaders that because we are in a hospital setting that our personal licensing and the establishment license does not have to be displayed but easily accessible ( in a binder, in a cabinet). She said she was told this by an inspector. I find this worrisome. Can I be held accountable? Is it possible that my license is in any jeopardy if the BOH comes to inspect?
That is a complicated question and I am not sure I am comfortable making any suggestions other than calling the massage board and asking them.
