Beginning in the 2025-26 renewal cycle, you will also need 1 hour of Domestic and Sexual Assault Awareness, brining the total continuing education requirement to 25 hours. You do not need this course for the 2024 renewal cycle. (Link to official announcement)

How many hours am I required to take this renewal?
You are required to take 24 hours of continuing education for the 2024 renewal cycle. Of the 24 hours, you need to take 2 hours of ethics and 1 hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention.
Beginning in the 2025-26 renewal cycle, you will also need 1 hour of Domestic and Sexual Assault Awareness, brining the total continuing education requirement to 25 hours. You do not need this course for the 2024 renewal cycle.
IDFPR Announcement
- The Massage Therapy Practice Act was updated to reflect a new continuing education requirement.
- Pursuant to 225 ILCS 57/67 of the Act, one hour of CE for domestic violence and sexual assault has been added to the CE requirement, increasing the total number of hours needed to 25 hours. Please note, the 1 additional hour of CE for domestic violence and sexual assault will not be required for the 2024 renewal which expires on 12-31-24. The Rules for the Administration of the Act are in the process of being updated and will reflect the effective date for the new requirement to be part of the 2026 renewal.

If this is your first license renewal, you are exempt from completing the continuing education requirements.
From Illinois Administrative Code:
Section 1284.90 Continuing Education
5) A renewal applicant shall not be required to comply with CE requirements for the first renewal of an Illinois license.
Do you report my hours or course to the Illinois massage board or IDFPR?
No, Illinois does not have a continuing education reporting system at this time. Please keep a copy of your certificates in case you are audited at the time of your renewal.
Is there a requirement for live hours this renewal?
No, in 2020, Illinois waived the requirement for 12 live hours due to the COVID pandemic.
If your are late to renew, for the 2024 renewal cycle, all 24 continuing education hours to be completed in an online or self-study format.
